They ¹  came up to him again and again ²  and said, “Hail, king of the Jews!” ³  And they struck him repeatedly ⁴  in the face.

After several days had passed, King Agrippa ¹  and Bernice arrived at Caesarea ²  to pay their respects ³  to Festus. ⁴ 

Just when he had finished offering the burnt offering, Samuel appeared on the scene. Saul went out to meet him and to greet him. ¹ 

When Samuel came to him, ¹  Saul said to him, “May the Lord bless you! I have done what the Lord said.”

When David’s friend Hushai the Arkite came to Absalom, Hushai said to him, ¹  “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

Joab said to Amasa, “How are you, my brother?” With his right hand Joab took hold of Amasa’s beard as if to greet him with a kiss.

But ¹  Jesus met them, saying, “Greetings!” They ²  came to him, held on to his feet and worshiped him.

For the instant ¹  the sound of your greeting reached my ears, ²  the baby in my womb leaped for joy. ³ 

So ¹  they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. ²  They ³  found the eleven and those with them gathered together

When Laban heard this news about Jacob, his sister’s son, he rushed out to meet him. He embraced him and kissed him and brought him to his house. Jacob ¹  told Laban how he was related to him. ² 

Samuel did what the Lord told him. ¹  When he arrived in Bethlehem, ²  the elders of the city were afraid to meet him. They ³  said, “Do you come in peace?”

From ¹  Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their colleagues – the judges, the rulers, the officials, the secretaries, the Erechites, the Babylonians, the people of Susa (that is, ²  the Elamites),

Ishmael son of Nethaniah went out from Mizpah to meet them. He was pretending to cry ¹  as he walked along. When he met them, he said to them, “Come with me to meet Gedaliah son of Ahikam.” ²

While he was still speaking, suddenly a crowd appeared, ¹  and the man named Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He walked up ²  to Jesus to kiss him. ³

But the Lord ¹  struck down some of the people of Beth Shemesh because they had looked into the ark of the Lord; he struck down 50,070 ²  of the men. The people grieved because the Lord had struck the people with a hard blow.
