The fact that you have lawsuits among yourselves demonstrates that you have already been defeated. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

For how do you know, wife, whether you will bring your husband to salvation? ¹  Or how do you know, husband, whether you will bring your wife to salvation? ² 

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

If you forgive anyone for anything, I also forgive him – for indeed what I have forgiven (if I have forgiven anything) I did so for you in the presence of Christ,

What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more ¹  than a prophet.

Then ¹  the disciples came to him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?”

They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?” ¹ 

The young man said to him, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed ¹  all these laws. ²  What do I still lack?”

Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?”

You are blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred?

When ¹  the disciples saw this, they became indignant and said, “Why this waste?

What is your verdict?” ¹  They ²  answered, “He is guilty and deserves ³  death.”

But he denied it in front of them all: ¹  “I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

And he said to them, “Why are you cowardly? Do you still not have faith?”

What can a person give in exchange for his life?

(For they were afraid, and he did not know what to say.) ¹ 

He answered them, ¹  “What did Moses command you?”

He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

So ¹  they made signs to the baby’s ²  father, ³  inquiring what he wanted to name his son. ⁴ 

So ¹  the crowds were asking ²  him, “What then should we do?”
