All the crowds were amazed and said, “Could this one be the Son of David?”

‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart ¹  is far from me,

As he entered Jerusalem the whole city was thrown into an uproar, ¹  saying, “Who is this?”

And the crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth ¹  in Galilee.”

He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. ¹  Then Pilate ordered that it be given to him.

“Why does this man speak this way? He is blaspheming! ¹  Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

For whoever does the will of God is ¹  my brother and sister and mother.”

Have you not read this scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. ¹ 

You will be hated by everyone because of my name. ¹  But the one who endures to the end will be saved. ² 

When the slave girl saw him, she began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.”

But ¹  she was greatly troubled ²  by his words and began to wonder about the meaning of this greeting. ³ 

This ¹  report ²  about Jesus ³  circulated ⁴  throughout ⁵  Judea and all the surrounding country.

But ¹  those who were at the table ²  with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”

But ¹  the Pharisees ²  and the experts in the law ³  were complaining, ⁴  “This man welcomes ⁵  sinners and eats with them.”

And we rightly so, for we are getting what we deserve for what we did, but this man has done nothing ¹  wrong.”

He came as a witness ¹  to testify ²  about the light, so that everyone ³  might believe through him.

(Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, ¹  for Judas, ²  one of the twelve, was going to betray him.) ³ 

Then some of the residents of Jerusalem ¹  began to say, “Isn’t this the man ²  they are trying ³  to kill?

When they heard these words, some of the crowd ¹  began to say, “This really ²  is the Prophet!” ³ 

They replied, ¹  “If this man ²  were not a criminal, ³  we would not have handed him over to you.” ⁴
