Jesus said to them, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  before Abraham came into existence, ²  I am!” ³ 

I am speaking to thoughtful people. Consider what I say.

Listen, ¹  I will tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, ²  but we will all be changed –

Now as a fair exchange – I speak as to my ¹  children – open wide your hearts to us ²  also.

But I say, live ¹  by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. ² 

I say this so that no one will deceive you through arguments ¹  that sound reasonable. ² 

Think about what I am saying and ¹  the Lord will give you understanding of all this. ² 

I tell you the truth, ¹  you will never get out of there until you have paid the last penny! ² 

But I say to you, do not take oaths at all – not by heaven, because it is the throne of God,

But I say to you, love your enemy and ¹  pray for those who persecute you,

Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these!

I tell you the truth, ¹  it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrah ²  on the day of judgment than for that town!

I tell you the truth, ¹  this generation ²  will not pass away until all these things take place.

And while they were eating he said, “I tell you the truth, ¹  one of you will betray me.” ² 

“I tell you, stand up, take your stretcher, and go home.” ¹ 

But I tell you that Elijah has certainly come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.”

I tell you the truth, ¹  this generation ²  will not pass away until all these things take place.

And he added, ¹  “I tell you the truth, ²  no prophet is acceptable ³  in his hometown.

“But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies, ¹  do good to those who hate you,

I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom ¹  than for that town! ²
