saying, “You went to ¹  uncircumcised men and shared a meal with ²  them.”

Even by saying ¹  these things, they scarcely persuaded ²  the crowds not to offer sacrifice to them.

saying, “This man is persuading ¹  people to worship God in a way contrary to ²  the law!”

For those who speak in such a way make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.

So then, don’t worry saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, shouting, ¹  “Have mercy ²  on us, Son of David!” ³ 

Then some of the experts in the law ¹  along with some Pharisees ²  answered him, ³  “Teacher, we want to see a sign ⁴  from you.”

The same day Sadducees ¹  (who say there is no resurrection) ²  came to him and asked him, ³ 

For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ ¹  and they will mislead many.

He asked, “Why? What wrong has he done?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!”

and said, “Sir, we remember that while that deceiver was still alive he said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’

telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came at night and stole his body ¹  while we were asleep.’

And the demonic spirits ¹  begged him, “Send us into the pigs. Let us enter them.”

People were completely astounded and said, “He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Then ¹  they asked him, ²  “Why do the experts in the law ³  say that Elijah must come first?”

They discussed with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Then why did you not believe him?’

Sadducees ¹  (who say there is no resurrection) ²  also came to him and asked him, ³ 

Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ ¹  and they will mislead many.

But ¹  the Pharisees ²  and the experts in the law ³  were complaining, ⁴  “This man welcomes ⁵  sinners and eats with them.”

“Blessed is the king ¹  who comes in the name of the Lord! ²  Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
