Now it was for this very purpose ¹  that the gospel was preached to those who are now dead, ²  so that though ³  they were judged in the flesh ⁴  by human standards ⁵  they may live spiritually ⁶  by God’s standards. ⁷ 

Be careful not to allow anyone to captivate you ¹  through an empty, deceitful philosophy ²  that is according to human traditions and the elemental spirits ³  of the world, and not according to Christ.

The kings of the earth stood together, ¹  and the rulers assembled together, against the Lord and against his ²  Christ.’ ³ 

For Moses has had those who proclaim him in every town from ancient times, ¹  because he is read aloud ²  in the synagogues ³  every Sabbath.”

We sailed slowly ¹  for many days and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus. ²  Because the wind prevented us from going any farther, ³  we sailed under the lee ⁴  of Crete off Salmone. ⁵ 

¹ Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that had been kept secret for long ages,

So then from now on we acknowledge ¹  no one from an outward human point of view. ²  Even though we have known Christ from such a human point of view, ³  now we do not know him in that way any longer.

In Christ ¹  we too have been claimed as God’s own possession, ²  since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will

I became a servant of this gospel ¹  according to the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by ²  the exercise of his power. ³ 

Slaves, ¹  obey your earthly ²  masters in every respect, not only when they are watching – like those who are strictly people-pleasers – but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.

However, ¹  without your consent I did not want to do anything, so that your good deed would not be out of compulsion, but from your own willingness.

Then he touched their eyes saying, “Let it be done for you according to your faith.”

They were distressed, and one by one said to him, “Surely not I?”

During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, ¹  whomever they requested.

“Now, according to your word, ¹  Sovereign Lord, ²  permit ³  your servant ⁴  to depart ⁵  in peace.

When ¹  he was twelve years old, ²  they went up ³  according to custom.

Then ¹  they departed and went throughout ²  the villages, proclaiming the good news ³  and healing people everywhere.

So too a Levite, when he came up to ¹  the place and saw him, ²  passed by on the other side.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  traveled throughout ³  towns ⁴  and villages, teaching and making his way toward ⁵  Jerusalem. ⁶ 

It will be the same on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
