Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They replied, “Seven – and a few small fish.”

They answered, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, ¹  and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said, “What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”

They ¹  said to her, “But ²  none of your relatives bears this name.” ³ 

But some of the Pharisees ¹  said, “Why are you ²  doing what is against the law ³  on the Sabbath?”

As ¹  they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, ²  “Why are you untying that colt?”

But ¹  some of the Pharisees ²  in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” ³ 

“Show me a denarius. ¹  Whose image ²  and inscription are on it?” ³  They said, “Caesar’s.”

So ¹  they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” ²  Then he told them, “It is enough.” ³ 

When ¹  those who were around him saw what was about to happen, they said, “Lord, should ²  we use our swords?” ³ 

Then ¹  they said, “Why do we need further testimony? We have heard it ourselves ²  from his own lips!” ³ 

Then they said to him, “Who are you? Tell us ¹  so that we can give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

So then the Jewish leaders ¹  responded, ²  “What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?” ³ 

But some of them went to the Pharisees ¹  and reported to them ²  what Jesus had done.

They replied, ¹  “If this man ²  were not a criminal, ³  we would not have handed him over to you.” ⁴ 

Then they prayed, ¹  “Lord, you know the hearts of all. Show us which one of these two you have chosen

But Peter and the apostles replied, ¹  “We must obey ²  God rather than people. ³ 

They replied, ¹  “Believe ²  in the Lord Jesus ³  and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Now when they heard about ¹  the resurrection from the dead, some began to scoff, ²  but others said, “We will hear you again about this.”

But when the Pharisees ¹  saw this they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is against the law to do on the Sabbath.”
