They ¹  became greatly distressed ²  and each one began to say to him, “Surely not I, Lord?”

He trusts in God – let God, if he wants to, deliver him now ¹  because he said, ‘I am God’s Son’!”

Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ ¹  and they will mislead many.

I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me ¹  like one of your hired workers.”’

But Peter ¹  said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!” ² 

He confessed – he did not deny but confessed – “I am not the Christ!” ¹ 

who is coming after me. I am not worthy ¹  to untie the strap ²  of his sandal!”

Then Jesus said, “I will be with you for only a little while longer, ¹  and then ²  I am going to the one who sent me.

You will look for me ¹  but will not find me, and where I am you cannot come.”

I testify about myself ¹  and the Father who sent me testifies about me.”

So Jesus said to them again, “I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  I am the door for the sheep. ² 

“I am the good shepherd. I ¹  know my own ²  and my own know me –

You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and do so correctly, ¹  for that is what I am. ² 

I am telling you this now, ¹  before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe ²  that I am he. ³ 

“I am the true vine ¹  and my Father is the gardener. ² 

So when Jesus ¹  said to them, “I am he,” they retreated ²  and fell to the ground. ³ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for ²  me, let these men ³  go.” ⁴ 

So he said, “Who are you, Lord?” He replied, “I am Jesus whom you are persecuting!

But Peter helped him up, ¹  saying, “Stand up. I too am a mere mortal.” ² 

Therefore I declare ¹  to you today that I am innocent ²  of the blood of you all. ³
