Now ¹  Jesus ²  was praying in a certain place. When ³  he stopped, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John ⁴  taught ⁵  his disciples.”

But I say to you, love your enemy and ¹  pray for those who persecute you,

When ¹  you pray, do not babble repetitiously like the Gentiles, because they think that by their many words they will be heard.

So pray this way: ¹  Our Father ²  in heaven, may your name be honored, ³ 

Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

So leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same thing once more.

Then ¹  Jesus ²  got up early in the morning when it was still very dark, departed, and went out to a deserted place, and there he spent time in prayer. ³ 

They ¹  devour widows’ property, ²  and as a show make long prayers. These men will receive a more severe punishment.”

Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Now ¹  the whole crowd ²  of people were praying outside at the hour of the incense offering. ³ 

Now when ¹  all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized. And while he was praying, ²  the heavens ³  opened,

“Two men went up ¹  to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee ²  and the other a tax collector. ³ 

They ¹  devour ²  widows’ property, ³  and as a show make long prayers. They will receive a more severe punishment.”

He went away from them about a stone’s throw, knelt down, and prayed,

So ¹  he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray that you will not fall into temptation!” ² 

Then they prayed, ¹  “Lord, you know the hearts of all. Show us which one of these two you have chosen

When they had appointed elders ¹  for them in the various churches, ²  with prayer and fasting ³  they entrusted them to the protection ⁴  of the Lord in whom they had believed.

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying ¹  and singing hymns to God, ²  and the rest of ³  the prisoners were listening to them.

When ¹  I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance ² 

Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered disgraces his head.
