The ¹  disciples were greatly astonished when they heard this and said, “Then who can be saved?” ² 

So ¹  the disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them.

When the disciples saw it they were amazed, saying, “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?”

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples,

When ¹  the disciples saw this, they became indignant and said, “Why this waste?

When ¹  it was evening, he took his place at the table ²  with the twelve. ³ 

In the house once again, the disciples asked him about this.

Now ¹  people were bringing little children to him for him to touch, ²  but the disciples scolded those who brought them. ³ 

John’s ¹  disciples informed him about all these things. So ²  John called ³  two of his disciples

Then ¹  his disciples asked him what this parable meant. ² 

I ¹  begged ²  your disciples to cast it out, but ³  they could not do so.” ⁴ 

As ¹  all the people were listening, Jesus ²  said to his disciples,

Again the next day John ¹  was standing there ²  with two of his disciples.

When John’s ¹  two disciples heard him say this, ²  they followed Jesus. ³ 

and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. ¹ 

Now a dispute came about between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew ¹  concerning ceremonial washing. ² 

(although Jesus himself was not baptizing, but his disciples were), ¹ 

(For his disciples had gone off into the town to buy supplies. ¹ ) ² 

Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, ¹  “Rabbi, eat something.” ² 

So the disciples began to say ¹  to one another, “No one brought him anything ²  to eat, did they?” ³
