The soldiers ¹  braided ²  a crown of thorns ³  and put it on his head, and they clothed him in a purple robe. ⁴ 

But when the apostles ¹  Barnabas and Paul heard about ²  it, they tore ³  their clothes and rushed out ⁴  into the crowd, shouting, ⁵ 

The crowd joined the attack ¹  against them, and the magistrates tore the clothes ²  off Paul and Silas ³  and ordered them to be beaten with rods. ⁴ 

Let your ¹  beauty ²  not be external – the braiding of hair and wearing of gold jewelry ³  or fine clothes –

He is dressed in clothing dipped ¹  in blood, and he is called ²  the Word of God.

He has a name written on his clothing and on his thigh: “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

And he was transfigured before them. ¹  His ²  face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.

A ¹  very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road. Others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

Then the high priest tore his clothes and declared, ¹  “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? Now ²  you have heard the blasphemy!

When ¹  they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes back on him. Then ²  they led him away to crucify him.

and his clothes became radiantly white, more so than any launderer in the world could bleach them.

Then ¹  they brought the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks ²  on it, and he sat on it. ³ 

When they had finished mocking ¹  him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes back on him. Then ²  they led him away to crucify him. ³ 

To the person who strikes you on the cheek, ¹  offer the other as well, ²  and from the person who takes away your coat, ³  do not withhold your tunic ⁴  either. ⁵ 

What ¹  did you go out to see? A man dressed in fancy ²  clothes? ³  Look, those who wear fancy clothes and live in luxury ⁴  are in kings’ courts! ⁵ 

Then ¹  they brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks ²  on the colt, ³  and had Jesus get on ⁴  it.

[But Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”] ¹  Then ²  they threw dice ³  to divide his clothes. ⁴ 

So Jesus came outside, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. ¹  Pilate ²  said to them, “Look, here is the man!” ³ 

When ¹  they had driven him out of the city, they began to stone him, ²  and the witnesses laid their cloaks ³  at the feet of a young man named Saul.

and like a robe you will fold them up and like a garment ¹  they will be changed, but you are the same and your years will never run out.” ²
