Recently, however, you yourselves ¹  showed a change of heart and did what is pleasing to me. You granted your fellow countrymen their freedom and you made a covenant to that effect in my presence in the house that I have claimed for my own. ² 

Do you not know that if you present yourselves ¹  as obedient slaves, ²  you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or obedience resulting in righteousness? ³ 

O Lord, restore our well-being, just as the streams in the arid south are replenished. ¹ 

The diligent ¹  person ²  will rule, but the slothful ³  will become a slave. ⁴ 

He ¹  said to the woman, “Your faith ²  has saved you; ³  go in peace.”

Whenever ¹  you enter a house, ²  first say, ‘May peace ³  be on this house!’

Then they shouted back, ¹  “Not this man, ²  but Barabbas!” ³  (Now Barabbas was a revolutionary. ⁴ ) ⁵ 

and having been freed from sin, you became enslaved to righteousness.

in whom we have redemption, ¹  the forgiveness of sins.

Who let the wild donkey go free? Who released the bonds of the donkey,

The Lord rescues his servants; ¹  all who take shelter in him escape punishment. ² 

vindicates the oppressed, ¹  and gives food to the hungry. The Lord releases the imprisoned.

While they were saying these things, Jesus ¹  himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” ² 

For sin will have no mastery over you, because you are not under law but under grace.

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Absolutely not!

Do not give offense to Jews or Greeks or to the church of God,

For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

Listen! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you at all!

For the whole law can be summed up in a single commandment, ¹  namely, “You must love your neighbor as yourself.” ² 

However, if you continually bite and devour one another, ¹  beware that you are not consumed ²  by one another.
