For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? ¹ 

So then, one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.

Samson said to them, “I will give you a riddle. If you really can solve it during the seven days the party lasts, ¹  I will give you thirty linen robes and thirty sets ²  of clothes.

But if you cannot solve it, ¹  you will give me thirty linen robes and thirty sets of clothes.” They said to him, “Let us hear your riddle.” ² 

He said to them, “Out of the one who eats came something to eat; out of the strong one came something sweet.” They could not solve the riddle for three days.

I, Daniel, was exhausted ¹  and sick for days. Then I got up and again carried out the king’s business. But I was astonished at the vision, and there was no one to explain it.

Now I have come to help you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision pertains to future days.”

But ¹  the angel said to me, “Why are you astounded? I will interpret ²  for you the mystery of the woman and of the beast with the seven heads and ten horns that carries her.

“Teach ¹  me and I, for my part, ²  will be silent; explain to me ³  how I have been mistaken. ⁴ 

“Can you discover ¹  the essence ²  of God? Can you find out ³  the perfection of the Almighty? ⁴ 

Or speak ¹  to the earth ²  and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea declare to you.

But I wish to speak ¹  to the Almighty, ²  and I desire to argue ³  my case ⁴  with God.

When ¹  the chief priests and the Pharisees ²  heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.

He said to them, “How then does David by the Spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying,

So ¹  he called them and spoke to them in parables: ²  “How can Satan cast out Satan?

He also asked, “To what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use to present it?

who will speak a message ¹  to you by which you and your entire household will be saved.’

For you are bringing some surprising things ¹  to our ears, so we want to know what they ²  mean.”

I said, ¹  “Who is wise enough to understand why this has happened? ²  Who has a word from the Lord that can explain it? ³  Why does the land lie in ruins? Why is it as scorched as a desert through which no one travels?”

Say, ‘I am an object lesson for you. Just as I have done, it will be done to them; they will go into exile and captivity.’
