for it is his only covering – it is his garment for his body. ¹  What else can he sleep in? ²  And ³  when he cries out to me, I will hear, for I am gracious.

But Daniel replied to the king, “Keep your gifts, and give your rewards to someone else! However, I will read the writing for the king and make known its ¹  interpretation.

The sick man answered him, “Sir, ¹  I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I am trying to get into the water, ²  someone else ³  goes down there ⁴  before me.”

Then he turned from those who were nearby to someone else and asked the same question, ¹  but they ²  gave him the same answer as before.

Make then my pledge ¹  with you. Who else will put up security for me? ² 

for I do not know how to give honorary titles, ¹  if I did, ²  my Creator would quickly do away with me. ³ 

The human mind is more deceitful than anything else. It is incurably bad. ¹  Who can understand it?

If he cannot succeed, ¹  he will send a representative ²  while the other is still a long way off and ask for terms of peace. ³ 

You must not charge interest on a loan to your fellow Israelite, ¹  whether on money, food, or anything else that has been loaned with interest.

The rest of the needs for the temple of your God that you may have to supply, ¹  you may do so from the royal treasury.

Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me, but if you do not believe me, ¹  believe because of the miraculous deeds ²  themselves.

And in this way I desire to preach where Christ has not been named, so as not to build on another person’s foundation,

nor to seek glory from people, either from you or from others,

Therefore, ¹  repent! If not, I will come against you quickly and make war against those people ²  with the sword of my mouth.

Then all the people came and encouraged David to eat food while it was still day. But David took an oath saying, “God will punish me severely ¹  if I taste bread or anything whatsoever before the sun sets!”

May his days be few! ¹  May another take his job! ² 

Wisdom is supreme ¹  – so ²  acquire wisdom, and whatever you acquire, ³  acquire understanding! ⁴ 

Guard your heart with all vigilance, ¹  for from it are the sources ²  of life.

The Lord created ¹  me as the beginning ²  of his works, ³  before his deeds of long ago.

“This is the law ¹  of the Nazirite who vows to the Lord his offering according to his separation, as well as whatever else he can provide. ²  Thus he must fulfill ³  his vow that he makes, according to the law of his separation.”
