Give a shepherd’s care to ¹  God’s flock among you, exercising oversight ²  not merely as a duty ³  but willingly under God’s direction, ⁴  not for shameful profit but eagerly.

I open my mouth and pant, because I long ¹  for your commands.

Those who are eager to do ¹  wrong draw near; they are far from your law.

for they ¹  are eager ²  to inflict harm, ³  and they hasten ⁴  to shed blood. ⁵ 

She obtains ¹  wool and flax, and she is pleased to work with her hands. ² 

She begins ¹  her work vigorously, and she strengthens ²  her arms.

When Azariah the high priest and the other priests looked at ¹  him, there was a skin disease on his forehead. They hurried him out of there; even the king ²  himself wanted to leave quickly because the Lord had afflicted him.

It ¹  paws the ground in the valley, ²  exulting mightily, ³  it goes out to meet the weapons.

Like a bridegroom it emerges ¹  from its chamber; ²  like a strong man it enjoys ³  running its course. ⁴ 

The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly. ¹ 

A faithful person ¹  will have an abundance of blessings, but the one who hastens ²  to gain riches will not go unpunished.

The stingy person ¹  hastens after riches and does not know that poverty will overtake him. ² 

Do not let yourself be quickly provoked, ¹  for anger resides in the lap ²  of fools.

Immediately the father of the boy cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

A dispute also started ¹  among them over which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. ² 

Meanwhile Saul, still breathing out threats ¹  to murder ²  the Lord’s disciples, went to the high priest

that is, that we may be mutually comforted by one another’s faith, ¹  both yours and mine.

so that by God’s will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.

But you should be eager for the greater gifts. And now I will show you a way that is beyond comparison. ¹ 

Pursue love and be eager for the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.
