All my closest friends ¹  detest me; and those whom ²  I love have turned against me. ³ 

Thick clouds are a veil for him, so he does not see us, ¹  as he goes back and forth in the vault ²  of heaven.’ ³ 

They attack me, now they surround me; ¹  they intend to throw me to the ground. ² 

If I had publicized these thoughts, ¹  I would have betrayed your loyal followers. ² 

in order to protect him from times of trouble, ¹  until the wicked are destroyed. ² 

Dark clouds surround him; equity and justice are the foundation of his throne. ¹ 

Then, after they had fasted ¹  and ²  prayed and placed their hands ³  on them, they sent them off.

But the meat of the bull, its skin, and its dung you are to burn up ¹  outside the camp. ²  It is the purification offering. ³ 

Then he must take off his clothes and put on other clothes, and he must bring the fatty ashes outside the camp to a ceremonially ¹  clean place,

but the rest of the bull – its hide, its flesh, and its dung – he completely burned up ¹  outside the camp just as the Lord had commanded Moses. ² 

The whole time he has the infection ¹  he will be continually unclean. He must live in isolation, and his place of residence must be outside the camp.

The priest is to go outside the camp and examine the infection. ¹  If the infection of the diseased person has been healed, ² 

and the one who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe his body in water, and afterward he may reenter the camp.

“Blood guilt ¹  will be accounted to any man ²  from the house of Israel ³  who slaughters an ox or a lamb or a goat inside the camp or outside the camp, ⁴ 

“The Israelites will camp according to their divisions, each man in his camp, and each man by his standard.

You must expel both men and women; you must put them outside the camp, so that ¹  they will not defile their camps, among which I live.”

So the Israelites did so, and expelled them outside the camp. As the Lord had spoken ¹  to Moses, so the Israelites did.

So Miriam was shut outside of the camp for seven days, and the people did not journey on until Miriam was brought back in. ¹ 

But they dared ¹  to go up to the crest of the hill, although ²  neither the ark of the covenant of the Lord nor Moses departed from the camp.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “The man must surely be put to death; the whole community must stone ¹  him with stones outside the camp.”
