The water flowed down all sides of the altar and filled the trench.

I maintain a pure lifestyle, ¹  so I can appear before your altar, ²  O Lord,

Then you must build an altar there to the Lord your God, an altar of stones – do not use an iron tool on them.

Then the priest must take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and he must pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.

Then Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it on the horns of the altar, and the rest of the blood he poured out at the base of the altar.

David built there an altar to the Lord and offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings. ¹  He called out to the Lord, and the Lord ²  responded by sending fire from the sky and consuming the burnt sacrifice on the altar.

This was the place where he had first built the altar, ¹  and there Abram worshiped the Lord. ² 

And you must not go up by steps to my altar, so that your nakedness is not exposed.’ ¹ 

You are to make poles for the altar, poles of acacia wood, and you are to overlay them with bronze.
