“Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars, ¹  and spreads its wings toward the south?

For you will extend your great loyal love to me, ¹  and will deliver my life ²  from the depths of Sheol. ³ 

And pointing ¹  toward his disciples he said, “Here ²  are my mother and my brothers!

with this goal in mind, ¹  I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God ²  in Christ Jesus.

He looked out toward ¹  Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land of that region. ²  As he did so, he saw the smoke rising up from the land like smoke from a furnace. ³ 

The Philistine drew steadily closer to David to attack him, while David quickly ran toward the battle line to attack the Philistine. ¹ 

Hear my plea for mercy when I cry out to you for help, when I lift my hands ¹  toward your holy temple! ² 

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  the south, ²  and speak out against the south. ³  Prophesy against the open scrub ⁴  land of the Negev,

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  Jerusalem ²  and speak out against the sanctuaries. Prophesy against the land of Israel

“As for you, ¹  if you prove faithful, ²  and if ³  you stretch out your hands toward him, ⁴ 

Now we have such confidence in God through Christ.

Joseph positioned them; ¹  he put Ephraim on his right hand across from Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh on his left hand across from Israel’s right hand. Then Joseph brought them closer to his father. ² 

The man among you who is by nature tender and sensitive will turn against his brother, his beloved wife, and his remaining children.

When Jacob saw the look on Laban’s face, he could tell his attitude toward him had changed. ¹ 

I continually look to the Lord for help, ¹  for he will free my feet from the enemy’s net. ² 

Restore us, O God our deliverer! Do not be displeased with us! ¹ 

For his loyal love towers ¹  over us, and the Lord’s faithfulness endures. Praise the Lord!

While he was saying this to me, ¹  I was flat on ²  the ground and unable to speak.

So it is with the one who stores up riches for himself, ¹  but is not rich toward God.”

So Moses extended his hand toward heaven, and there was absolute darkness ¹  throughout the land of Egypt for three days. ²
