David promised Saul this on oath. ¹  Then Saul went to his house, and David and his men went up to the stronghold.

Ner was the father of Kish, and Kish was the father of Saul. Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malki-Shua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal. ¹ 

Until the day he ¹  died Samuel did not see Saul again. Samuel did, however, mourn for Saul, but the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.

The Philistines stayed right on the heels ¹  of Saul and his sons. They ²  struck down Saul’s sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

As the war continued between the house of Saul and the house of David, Abner was becoming more influential ¹  in the house of Saul.

Then Saul stopped chasing the Philistines, and the Philistines went back home. ¹ 

Saul proceeded to the city ¹  of Amalek, where he set an ambush ²  in the wadi. ³ 

They are with Saul and the whole Israelite army ¹  in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.”

Saul retained David ¹  on that day and did not allow him to return to his father’s house.

So Saul was keeping an eye on David from that day onward.

When Saul saw how very successful he was, he was afraid of him.

It was reported to Saul saying, “David is at Naioth in Ramah.”

Abiathar told David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord.

Saul replied, “May you be blessed by the Lord, for you have had compassion on me.

Then David chanted this lament over Saul and his son Jonathan.

Now Michal, Saul’s daughter, had no children to the day of her death.

They did so, ¹  sending their financial aid ²  to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.

When Saul realized ¹  that the Lord was with David and that his ²  daughter Michal loved David, ³ 

The Philistines stayed right on the heels of ¹  Saul and his sons. They ²  struck down Saul’s ³  sons Jonathan, Abinadab, and Malki-Shua.

When David finished speaking these words to Saul, Saul said, “Is that your voice, my son David?” Then Saul wept loudly. ¹
