When Obadiah went and informed Ahab, the king went to meet Elijah. ¹ 

She went and did as Elijah told her; there was always enough food for Elijah and for her and her family. ¹ 

When Ahab saw Elijah, he ¹  said to him, “Is it really you, the one who brings disaster ²  on Israel?”

And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.

They answered, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, ¹  and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

The disciples asked him, ¹  “Why then do the experts in the law ²  say that Elijah must come first?”

Others said, “He is Elijah.” Others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets from the past.”

They said, ¹  “John the Baptist, others say Elijah, ²  and still others, one of the prophets.”

Then ¹  they asked him, ²  “Why do the experts in the law ³  say that Elijah must come first?”

while others were saying that Elijah ¹  had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had risen. ² 

Elijah took the boy, brought him down from the upper room to the house, and handed him to his mother. Elijah then said, “See, your son is alive!”

Now the Lord energized Elijah with power; ¹  he tucked his robe into his belt ²  and ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

The jar of flour was never empty and the jug of oil never ran out, just as the Lord had promised ¹  through Elijah.

But Elijah said, “As certainly as the Lord who rules over all ¹  lives (whom I serve), ²  I will make an appearance before him today.”

Elijah said to them: ¹  “I am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but there are 450 prophets of Baal.

Then Elijah told Ahab, “Go on up and eat and drink, for the sound of a heavy rainstorm can be heard.” ¹ 

Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, including a detailed account of how he killed all the prophets with the sword.

They replied, ¹  “He was a hairy man ²  and had a leather belt ³  tied around his waist.” The king ⁴  said, “He is Elijah the Tishbite.”

He picked up Elijah’s cloak, which had fallen off him, and went back and stood on the shore of the Jordan.

Look, I will send you Elijah ¹  the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord arrives.
