I absolutely hate them, ¹  they have become my enemies!

who plan ways to harm me. ¹  All day long they stir up conflict. ² 

I will destroy you, ¹  O Israel! Who ²  is there to help you?

But some from the religious party of the Pharisees ¹  who had believed stood up and said, “It is necessary ²  to circumcise the Gentiles ³  and to order them to observe ⁴  the law of Moses.”

For we have found ¹  this man to be a troublemaker, ²  one who stirs up riots ³  among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader ⁴  of the sect of the Nazarenes. ⁵ 

But I confess this to you, that I worship ¹  the God of our ancestors ²  according to the Way (which they call a sect), believing everything that is according to the law ³  and that is written in the prophets.

But false prophets arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. ¹  These false teachers ²  will ³  infiltrate your midst ⁴  with destructive heresies, ⁵  even to the point of ⁶  denying the Master who bought them. As a result, they will bring ⁷  swift destruction on themselves.

So Saul said, “Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings.” Then he offered a burnt offering.

Would it turn out well if he would examine ¹  you? Or as one deceives ²  a man would you deceive him?

You know when I sit down and when I get up; even from far away you understand my motives.

You carefully observe me when I travel or when I lie down to rest; ¹  you are aware of everything I do. ² 

You squeeze me in from behind and in front; you place your hand on me.

Your knowledge is beyond my comprehension; it is so far beyond me, I am unable to fathom it. ¹ 

If I were to ascend ¹  to heaven, you would be there. If I were to sprawl out in Sheol, there you would be. ² 

If I were to fly away ¹  on the wings of the dawn, ²  and settle down on the other side ³  of the sea,

If I were to say, “Certainly the darkness will cover me, ¹  and the light will turn to night all around me,” ² 

Certainly ¹  you made my mind and heart; ²  you wove me together ³  in my mother’s womb.

How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! ¹  How vast is their sum total! ² 

If only ¹  you would kill the wicked, O God! Get away from me, you violent men! ² 

O Lord, do I not hate those who hate you, and despise those who oppose you? ¹
