You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

But you even break off ¹  piety, ²  and hinder ³  meditation ⁴  before God.

His vigorous steps ¹  are restricted, ²  and his own counsel throws him down. ³ 

Scatter abroad ¹  the abundance ²  of your anger. Look at every proud man ³  and bring him low;

Hear the word of the Lord, you who respect what he has to say! ¹  Your countrymen, ²  who hate you and exclude you, supposedly for the sake of my name, say, “May the Lord be glorified, then we will witness your joy.” ³  But they will be put to shame.
