But as for me, my eye will not pity them nor will I spare ¹  them; I hereby repay them for what they have done.” ² 

But those whose hearts are devoted to detestable things and abominations, I hereby repay them for what they have done, ¹  says the sovereign Lord.”

Do I actually delight in the death of the wicked, declares the sovereign Lord? Do I not prefer that he turn from his wicked conduct and live?

So I have poured my anger on them, and destroyed them with the fire of my fury. I hereby repay them for what they have done, ¹  declares the sovereign Lord.”

You were blameless in your behavior ¹  from the day you were created, until sin was discovered in you.

He measured the length and width of the gate of the outer court which faces north.

Then he brought me to the inner court on the east side. He measured the gate; it had the same dimensions as the others.

He said to me, “This chamber which faces south is for the priests who keep charge of the temple, ¹ 

At the beginning ¹  of the wall of the court toward the south, ²  facing the courtyard and the building, were chambers

Then he brought me back by way of the outer gate of the sanctuary which faces east, but it was shut.

“This will be the border of the land: ¹  On the north side, from the Great Sea by way of Hethlon to the entrance of Zedad;

I will deal with the people and priests together: ¹  I will punish them both for their ways, and I will repay them for their deeds.

The company of priests is like a gang of robbers, lying in ambush to pounce on a victim. They commit murder on the road to Shechem; they have done heinous crimes!

But you have plowed wickedness; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of deception. Because you have depended on your chariots; ¹  you have relied ²  on your many warriors.

The Lord also has a covenant lawsuit ¹  against Judah; he will punish Jacob according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.

They ¹  charge ²  like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers. ³  Each one proceeds on his course; they do not alter ⁴  their path.

Here then is what the Lord who rules over all says: ‘Think carefully about what you are doing. ¹ 

But as for me, when I was returning from Paddan, Rachel died – to my sorrow ¹  – in the land of Canaan. It happened along the way, some distance from Ephrath. So I buried her there on the way to Ephrath” (that is, Bethlehem). ² 

Now a wind ¹  went out ²  from the Lord and brought quail ³  from the sea, and let them fall ⁴  near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about three feet ⁵  high on the surface of the ground.

But stay about three thousand feet behind it. ¹  Keep your distance ²  so you can see ³  which way you should go, for you have not traveled this way before.”
