(For Jesus himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.) ¹ 

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part,

The Lord ¹  said, “Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, ²  I the Lord ³  will make myself known to him in a vision; I will speak with him in a dream.

Yet which of them has ever stood in the Lord’s inner circle ¹  so they ²  could see and hear what he has to say? ³  Which of them have ever paid attention or listened to what he has said?

The Lord said to me, “Jeremiah, ¹  when one of these people, or a prophet, or a priest asks you, ‘What burdensome message ²  do you have from the Lord?’ Tell them, ‘You are the burden, ³  and I will cast you away. ⁴  I, the Lord, affirm it! ⁵ 

ר (Resh) Look, O Lord! Consider! ¹  Whom have you ever afflicted ²  like this? Should women eat their offspring, ³  their healthy infants? ⁴  Should priest and prophet be killed in the Lord’s ⁵  sanctuary?

And a ¹  young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp!”

So the prophet went back with him and ate and drank in his house. ¹ 

When Elisha arrived at the house, there was ¹  the child lying dead on his bed.

Indeed, they will hear meaningless gibberish, senseless babbling, a syllable here, a syllable there. ¹ 

Look, all of them are nothing, ¹  their accomplishments are nonexistent; their metal images lack any real substance. ² 

The Lord brought Israel out of Egypt by a prophet, and due to a prophet ¹  Israel ²  was preserved alive. ³ 

And if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah, who is to come.

And he added, ¹  “I tell you the truth, ²  no prophet is acceptable ³  in his hometown.

Wasn’t ¹  it necessary ²  for the Christ ³  to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”

Pursue love and be eager for the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

The one who speaks in a tongue builds himself up, ¹  but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

For you can all prophesy one after another, so all can learn and be encouraged.

So then, brothers and sisters, ¹  be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid anyone from speaking in tongues. ² 

(These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.) ¹
