“No one can withhold the water for these people to be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, ¹  can he?” ² 

because he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and a significant number of people ¹  were brought to the Lord.

When Peter ¹  realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, ²  where many people had gathered together and were praying.

and ¹  for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied ²  him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These ³  are now his witnesses to the people.

As Paul and Barnabas ¹  were going out, ²  the people ³  were urging ⁴  them to speak about these things ⁵  on the next Sabbath.

But some people ¹  joined him ²  and believed. Among them ³  were Dionysius, who was a member of the Areopagus, ⁴  a woman ⁵  named Damaris, and others with them.

because I am with you, and no one will assault ¹  you to harm ²  you, because I have many people in this city.”

Paul said, “John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, ¹  that is, in Jesus.”

The whole city was stirred up, ¹  and the people rushed together. ²  They seized ³  Paul and dragged him out of the temple courts, ⁴  and immediately the doors were shut.

Paul answered, ¹  “I am a Jew ²  from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of an important city. ³  Please ⁴  allow me to speak to the people.”

Paul replied, ¹  “I did not realize, ²  brothers, that he was the high priest, for it is written, ‘You must not speak evil about a ruler of your people.’” ³ 

Now all the Jews know the way I lived ¹  from my youth, spending my life from the beginning among my own people ²  and in Jerusalem. ³ 

that ¹  the Christ ²  was to suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, to proclaim light both to our people ³  and to the Gentiles.” ⁴ 

But when the Jews objected, ¹  I was forced to appeal to Caesar ²  – not that I had some charge to bring ³  against my own people. ⁴ 

But we would like to hear from you what you think, for regarding this sect we know ¹  that people ²  everywhere speak against ³  it.”

when he said, ‘Go to this people and say, “You will keep on hearing, ¹  but will never understand, and you will keep on looking, ²  but will never perceive.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people ¹  who suppress the truth by their ²  unrighteousness, ³ 

So then, just as sin entered the world through one man and death through sin, and so death spread to all people ¹  because ²  all sinned –

For I could wish ¹  that I myself were accursed – cut off from Christ – for the sake of my people, ²  my fellow countrymen, ³ 

“And in the very place ¹  where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’” ²
