For very soon my fury ¹  will subside, and my anger will be directed toward their destruction.”

The water of the sea will be dried up, and the river will dry up and be empty. ¹ 

The nations run away when they hear a loud noise; ¹  the nations scatter when you spring into action! ² 

‘These large beasts, which are four in number, represent four kings who will arise from the earth.

Then a powerful king ¹  will arise, exercising great authority and doing as he pleases.

Which is easier, ¹  to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven’ or to say, ‘Stand up and walk’?

For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels ¹  in heaven.

And if Satan rises against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand and his end has come.

Then ¹  he said to them, “Why are you frightened, ²  and why do doubts ³  arise in your hearts?

But get up, ¹  go down, and accompany them without hesitation, ²  because I have sent them.”

Even from among your own group ¹  men ²  will arise, teaching perversions of the truth ³  to draw the disciples away after them.

In him ¹  the whole building, ²  being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith, by praying in the Holy Spirit, ¹ 

When someone sets out to chase you and to take your life, the life of my lord will be wrapped securely in the bag ¹  of the living by the Lord your God. But he will sling away the lives of your enemies from the sling’s pocket!

When ¹  the days of their feasting were finished, ²  Job would send ³  for them and sanctify ⁴  them; he would get up early ⁵  in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to ⁶  the number of them all. For Job thought, “Perhaps ⁷  my children ⁸  have sinned and cursed ⁹  God in their hearts.” This was Job’s customary practice.

Now as for the dead being raised, ¹  have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, ²  how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the ³  God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? ⁴ 

He said to me, ‘Stand over me and finish me off! ¹  I’m very dizzy, ²  even though I’m still alive.’ ³ 

If I lie down, I say, ¹  ‘When will I arise?’, and the night stretches on ²  and I toss and turn restlessly ³  until the day dawns.

if you become ¹  pure ²  and upright, ³  even now he will rouse himself ⁴  for you, and will restore ⁵  your righteous abode. ⁶ 

A prayer of David. Lord, consider my just cause! ²  Pay attention to my cry for help! Listen to the prayer I sincerely offer! ³
