Your carcasses will be food for every bird of the sky and wild animal of the earth, and there will be no one to chase them off.

Moreover, the Lord will bring upon you every kind of sickness and plague not mentioned in this scroll of commandments, ¹  until you have perished.

You are standing today, all of you, before the Lord your God – the heads of your tribes, ¹  your elders, your officials, every Israelite man,

Joshua read aloud every commandment Moses had given ¹  before the whole assembly of Israel, including the women, children, and resident foreigners who lived among them. ²

Hezekiah ¹  energetically rebuilt ²  every broken wall. He erected towers and an outer wall, ³  and fortified the terrace of the City of David. ⁴  He made many weapons and shields.

Pethahiah son of Meshezabel, one of the descendants of Zerah son of Judah, was an adviser to the king ¹  in every matter pertaining to the people.

For ¹  it has been hidden from the eyes of every living creature, and from the birds of the sky it has been concealed.

For every wild animal in the forest belongs to me, as well as the cattle that graze on a thousand hills. ¹ 

A song of ascents. ²  How blessed is every one of the Lord’s loyal followers, ³  each one who keeps his commands! ⁴ 

The eyes of the Lord ¹  are in every place, keeping watch ²  on those who are evil and those who are good.

It is better to go to a funeral ¹  than a feast. ²  For death ³  is the destiny ⁴  of every person, ⁵  and the living should ⁶  take this ⁷  to heart.

For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, for the oppression ¹  of the king ²  is severe upon his victim. ³
