You who have escaped the sword, ¹  go, do not delay. ²  Remember the Lord in a faraway land. Think about Jerusalem. ³ 

When the wicked turns from his sin and does what is just and right, he will live because of it.

“‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Because they are saying to you, “You are a devourer of men, and bereave your nation of children,”

So I prophesied as I was commanded, and the breath came into them; they lived and stood on their feet, an extremely great army.

He will restore ¹  us in a very short time; ²  he will heal us in a little while, ³  so that we may live in his presence.

So now, Lord, kill me instead, ¹  because I would rather die than live!” ² 

Though I scatter ¹  them among the nations, they will remember in far-off places – they and their children will sprout forth and return.

But he answered, ¹  “It is written, ‘Man ²  does not live ³  by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” ⁴ 

and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged severely ¹  and crucified. ²  Yet ³  on the third day, he will be raised.”

They will mock him, spit on him, flog ¹  him severely, and kill him. Yet ²  after three days, ³  he will rise again.”

The ¹  women ²  were terribly frightened ³  and bowed ⁴  their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living ⁵  among the dead?

Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who consumes ¹  me will live because of me.

and ¹  for many days he appeared to those who had accompanied ²  him from Galilee to Jerusalem. These ³  are now his witnesses to the people.

Or do you not know, brothers and sisters ¹  (for I am speaking to those who know the law), that the law is lord over a person ²  as long as he lives?

For this reason Christ died and returned to life, so that he may be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

Now if Christ is being preached as raised from the dead, ¹  how can some of you say there is no resurrection of the dead?

Otherwise, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? ¹  If the dead are not raised at all, then why are they baptized for them?

It is the same with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable, what is raised is imperishable. ¹ 

We do so ¹  because we know that the one who raised up Jesus ²  will also raise us up with Jesus and will bring us with you into his presence.

Therefore we are always full of courage, and we know that as long as we are alive here on earth ¹  we are absent from the Lord –
