But Paul called out loudly, ¹  “Do not harm yourself, ²  for we are all here!”

For we consider that a person ¹  is declared righteous by faith apart from the works of the law. ² 

Not ¹  only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,

Love must be ¹  without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good.

Eat anything that is sold in the marketplace without questions of conscience,

Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as God has shown us mercy, ¹  we do not become discouraged. ² 

Just as it is written, “He ¹  has scattered widely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.” ² 

but I was let down in a rope-basket ¹  through a window in the city wall, and escaped his hands.

I have competed well; ¹  I have finished the race; I have kept the faith!

Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

For since he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.

And he must turn away from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.

All those ¹  I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent!

“‘As for ¹  the ones who remain among you, I will bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a blowing leaf will pursue them, and they will flee as one who flees the sword and fall down even though there is no pursuer.

Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword and stab me with it! Otherwise these uncircumcised people will come, stab me, and torture me.” But his armor bearer refused to do it, because he was very afraid. So Saul took his sword and fell on it.

The Lord answered, ¹  “If you have raced on foot against men and they have worn you out, how will you be able to compete with horses? And if you feel secure only ²  in safe and open country, ³  how will you manage in the thick undergrowth along the Jordan River? ⁴ 

Even her mercenaries ¹  will prove to be like pampered, ²  well-fed calves. For they too will turn and run away. They will not stand their ground when ³  the time for them to be destroyed comes, the time for them to be punished.

‘You expected a large harvest, but instead ¹  there was little, and when you brought it home it disappeared right away. ²  Why?’ asks the Lord who rules over all. ‘Because my temple remains in ruins, thanks to each of you favoring his own house! ³ 

In the fourth generation ¹  your descendants ²  will return here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its limit.” ³ 

Then Joseph said, “If your money is gone, bring your livestock, and I will give you food ¹  in exchange for ²  your livestock.”
