for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort – for the sake of his good pleasure – is God.

They profess to know God but with their deeds they deny him, since they are detestable, disobedient, and unfit for any good deed.

Remember, O my God, Tobiah and Sanballat in light of these actions of theirs – also Noadiah the prophetess and the other prophets who were trying to scare me!

Since ancient times no one has heard or perceived, ¹  no eye has seen any God besides you, who intervenes for those who wait for him.

but I declared to those in Damascus first, and then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, ¹  and to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, ²  performing deeds consistent with ³  repentance.

He ¹  gave himself for us to set us free from every kind of lawlessness and to purify for himself a people who are truly his, ²  who are eager to do good. ³ 

Repay her the same way she repaid others; ¹  pay her back double ²  corresponding to her deeds. In the cup she mixed, mix double the amount for her.

The ¹  sea gave up the dead that were in it, and Death ²  and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each one was judged according to his deeds.

He had many supplies stored in the cities of Judah and an army of skilled warriors stationed in Jerusalem. ¹ 

For ¹  the Lord’s decrees ²  are just, ³  and everything he does is fair. ⁴ 

and all people will fear. ¹  They will proclaim ²  what God has done, and reflect on his deeds.

But God has been my ¹  king from ancient times, performing acts of deliverance on the earth. ² 

For all the nations of the world pursue ¹  these things, and your Father knows that you need them.
