They brought to him a deaf man who had difficulty speaking, and they asked him to place his hands on him.

Jesus ordered them not to tell anything. But as much as he ordered them not to do this, they proclaimed it all the more. ¹ 

People were completely astounded and said, “He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

A member of the crowd said to him, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that makes him mute.

Then ¹  they came to Capernaum. ²  After Jesus ³  was inside the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

All ¹  their neighbors were filled with fear, and throughout the entire hill country of Judea all these things were talked about.

As he spoke, ¹  a Pharisee ²  invited Jesus ³  to have a meal with him, so he went in and took his place at the table. ⁴ 

Then ¹  he said to them, “What are these matters ²  you are discussing so intently ³  as you walk along?” And they stood still, looking sad.

“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Surely he can’t be the Messiah, ¹  can he?” ² 

Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the report of the woman who testified, ¹  “He told me everything I ever did.”

(Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, ¹  for Judas, ²  one of the twelve, was going to betray him.) ³ 

Yet here he is, speaking publicly, ¹  and they are saying nothing to him. ²  Do the rulers really know that this man ³  is the Christ? ⁴ 

What did he mean by saying, ¹  ‘You will look for me ²  but will not find me, and where I am you cannot come’?”

I am telling you the things I have seen while with the ¹  Father; ²  as for you, ³  practice the things you have heard from the ⁴  Father!”

So the crowd who had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead were continuing to testify about it. ¹ 

The crowd that stood there and heard the voice ¹  said that it had thundered. Others said that an angel had spoken to him. ² 

I will not speak with you much longer, ¹  for the ruler of this world is coming. ²  He has no power over me, ³ 

All ¹  of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages ²  as the Spirit enabled them. ³ 

David by foreseeing this ¹  spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, ²  that he was neither abandoned to Hades, ³  nor did his body ⁴  experience ⁵  decay. ⁶
