In the path of righteousness there is life, but another path leads to death. ¹ 

The steps of a person ¹  are ordained by ²  the Lord – so how can anyone ³  understand his own ⁴  way?

He will go back the way he came – he will not enter this city,’ says the Lord.

He pursues them and passes by unharmed; ¹  he advances with great speed. ² 

The leaders will not be able to run away and hide. ¹  The shepherds of the flocks will not be able to escape.

Jesus stopped, called them, and said, “What do you want me to do for you?”

Peter began to speak to him, “Look, ¹  we have left everything to follow you!” ² 

In the morning as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.

So too a Levite, when he came up to ¹  the place and saw him, ²  passed by on the other side.

But ¹  a Samaritan ²  who was traveling ³  came to where the injured man ⁴  was, and when he saw him, he felt compassion for him. ⁵ 

He answered, ¹  “I tell you, if they ²  keep silent, the very stones ³  will cry out!”

While he was on his way down, ¹  his slaves ²  met him and told him that his son was going to live.

Thomas said, ¹  “Lord, we don’t know where you are going. How can we know the way?”

After they traveled through ¹  Amphipolis ²  and Apollonia, ³  they came to Thessalonica, ⁴  where there was a Jewish synagogue. ⁵ 

Thus we are full of courage and would prefer to be away ¹  from the body and at home with the Lord.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you too were called to the one hope of your calling,

Now may God our Father himself and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you.

But as for me, when I was returning from Paddan, Rachel died – to my sorrow ¹  – in the land of Canaan. It happened along the way, some distance from Ephrath. So I buried her there on the way to Ephrath” (that is, Bethlehem). ² 

¹ When Pharaoh released ²  the people, God did not lead them ³  by the way to the land ⁴  of the Philistines, ⁵  although ⁶  that was nearby, for God said, ⁷  “Lest ⁸  the people change their minds ⁹  and return to Egypt when they experience war.”

Please let us pass through ¹  your country. We will not pass through the fields or through the vineyards, nor will we drink water from any well. We will go by the King’s Highway; ²  we will not turn to the right or the left until we have passed through your region.’” ³
