Then David said to the priest Abiathar son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

He said to me, ‘Stand over me and finish me off! ¹  I’m very dizzy, ²  even though I’m still alive.’ ³ 

Now ¹  let me give you some advice as to how ²  you can save your life and your son Solomon’s life.

Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the prophet’s ¹  servant, and said, “Tell me all the great things which Elisha has done.”

Please recall the word you commanded your servant Moses: ‘If you act unfaithfully, I will scatter you among the nations. ¹ 

Even I and my relatives ¹  and my associates ²  are lending them money and grain. But let us abandon this practice of seizing collateral! ³ 

The king replied to Haman, “Keep your money, ¹  and do with those people whatever you wish.” ² 

I say, “O my God, please do not take me away in the middle of my life! ¹  You endure through all generations. ² 

They again replied, “Let the king inform us ¹  of the dream; then we will disclose its ²  interpretation.”

He said, “Abba, ¹  Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup ²  away from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

Then ¹  a man from the crowd cried out, ²  “Teacher, I beg you to look at ³  my son – he is my only child!

“Father, if you are willing, take ¹  this cup ²  away from me. Yet not my will but yours ³  be done.”

And he died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised. ¹ 

who killed both the Lord Jesus and the prophets ¹  and persecuted us severely. ²  They are displeasing to God and are opposed to all people,

Then his father Isaac said to him, “Come here and kiss me, my son.”

They said, “My lord, we did indeed come down ¹  the first time ²  to buy food.

The time ¹  for Israel to die approached, so he called for his son Joseph and said to him, “If now I have found favor in your sight, put your hand under my thigh ²  and show me kindness and faithfulness. ³  Do not bury me in Egypt,

‘My father made me swear an oath. He said, ¹  “I am about to die. Bury me ²  in my tomb that I dug for myself there in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go and bury my father; then I will return.’”

¹ So Moses went back ²  to his father-in-law Jethro and said to him, “Let me go, so that I may return ³  to my relatives ⁴  in Egypt and see ⁵  if they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”

So ¹  now, please come and curse this nation ²  for me, for they are too powerful for me. Perhaps I will prevail so that we may conquer them ³  and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, ⁴  and whoever you curse is cursed.”
