When ¹  Jesus learned of this, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She ²  has done a good service for me.

and said, “By what authority ¹  are you doing these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?”

and said to him, ¹  “Tell us: By what authority ²  are you doing these things? ³  Or who it is who gave you this authority?”

Not so with you; ¹  instead the one who is greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader ²  like the one who serves. ³ 

that ¹  the Son of Man must be delivered ²  into the hands of sinful men, ³  and be crucified, ⁴  and on the third day rise again.” ⁵ 

Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs, ¹  in Cana ²  of Galilee. In this way he revealed ³  his glory, and his disciples believed in him. ⁴ 

“Do not be amazed at this, because a time ¹  is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice

For no one who seeks to make a reputation for himself ¹  does anything in secret. ²  If you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”

You people ¹  are doing the deeds of your father.” Then ²  they said to Jesus, ³  “We were not born as a result of immorality! ⁴  We have only one Father, God himself.”

Who among you can prove me guilty ¹  of any sin? ²  If I am telling you ³  the truth, why don’t you believe me?

The Jewish leaders ¹  replied, ²  “We are not going to stone you for a good deed ³  but for blasphemy, ⁴  because ⁵  you, a man, are claiming to be God.” ⁶ 

if ¹  we are being examined ²  today for a good deed ³  done to a sick man – by what means this man was healed ⁴  –

and ¹  Jason has welcomed them as guests! They ²  are all acting against Caesar’s ³  decrees, saying there is another king named ⁴  Jesus!” ⁵ 

For I don’t understand what I am doing. For I do not do what I want – instead, I do what I hate. ¹ 

But not all have obeyed the good news, for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” ¹ 

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. ¹  Do not be conceited. ² 

For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in order to bring about the obedience ¹  of the Gentiles, by word and deed,

but as it is written: “Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.” ¹ 

and after he had given thanks he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Let such a person consider this: What we say ¹  by letters when we are absent, we also are in actions when we are present.
