those prophets of Israel who would prophesy about Jerusalem ¹  and would see visions of peace for it, when there was no peace,” declares the sovereign Lord.’

He despised the oath by breaking the covenant. Take note ¹  – he gave his promise ²  and did all these things – he will not escape!

While I, Daniel, was watching the vision, I sought to understand it. Now one who appeared to be a man was standing before me.

They ¹  cried out, “Son of God, leave us alone! ²  Have you come here to torment us before the time?” ³ 

Then ¹  the entire town ²  came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

When ¹  he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless, ²  like sheep without a shepherd.

Then they brought to him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute. Jesus ¹  healed him so that he could speak and see. ² 

But when he saw the strong wind he became afraid. And starting to sink, he cried out, ¹  “Lord, save me!”

When Jesus learned of this, ¹  he said, “You who have such little faith! ²  Why are you arguing ³  among yourselves about having no bread?

When ¹  Jesus learned of this, he said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She ²  has done a good service for me.

Her ¹  neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown ²  great mercy to her, and they rejoiced ³  with her.

When Jesus noticed this, ¹  he said, “How hard ²  it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! ³ 

And immediately he regained ¹  his sight and followed Jesus, ²  praising ³  God. When ⁴  all the people saw it, they too ⁵  gave praise to God.

Then ¹  a little later someone else ²  saw him and said, “You are one of them too.” But Peter said, “Man, ³  I am not!”

And all the crowds that had assembled for this spectacle, when they saw what had taken place, returned home beating their breasts. ¹ 

And while they still could not believe it ¹  (because of their joy) and were amazed, ²  he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” ³ 

So again they asked the man who used to be blind, ¹  “What do you say about him, since he caused you to see?” ²  “He is a prophet,” the man replied. ³ 

Then many of the people, ¹  who had come with Mary and had seen the things Jesus ²  did, believed in him.

(Now the chief priests and the Pharisees ¹  had given orders that anyone who knew where Jesus ²  was should report it, so that they could arrest ³  him.) ⁴ 

So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, ¹  look, here is your son!”
