You will once again ¹  have mercy on us; you will conquer ²  our evil deeds; you will hurl our ³  sins into the depths of the sea. ⁴ 

Because of his success ¹  he offers sacrifices to his throw net and burns incense to his dragnet; ²  for because of them he has plenty of food, ³  and more than enough to eat. ⁴ 

“Blessed are you when people ¹  insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things about you falsely ²  on account of me.

When it was full, they pulled it ashore, sat down, and put the good fish into containers and threw the bad away.

But Jesus called them and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions use their authority over them.

“Then they will hand you over to be persecuted and will kill you. You will be hated by all the nations ¹  because of my name. ² 

Then, ¹  after he went into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?”

These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; ¹ 

In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels ¹  over one sinner who repents.”

So ¹  Jesus ²  said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’ ³ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “This is the deed ²  God requires ³  – to believe in the one whom he ⁴  sent.”

When Jesus was aware ¹  that his disciples were complaining ²  about this, he said to them, “Does this cause you to be offended? ³ 

They will put you out of ¹  the synagogue, ²  yet a time ³  is coming when the one who kills you will think he is offering service to God. ⁴ 

For we have heard him saying that Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and change the customs ¹  that Moses handed down to us.”

This was the one who exploited ¹  our people ²  and was cruel to our ancestors, ³  forcing them to abandon ⁴  their infants so they would die. ⁵ 

But Saul was trying to destroy ¹  the church; entering one house after another, he dragged off ²  both men and women and put them in prison. ³ 

Has the potter no right to make from the same lump of clay ¹  one vessel for special use and another for ordinary use? ² 

You were taught with reference to your former way of life to lay aside ¹  the old man who is being corrupted in accordance with deceitful desires,

See to it, ¹  brothers and sisters, ²  that none of you has ³  an evil, unbelieving heart that forsakes ⁴  the living God. ⁵ 

So put away all filth and evil excess and humbly ¹  welcome the message implanted within you, which is able to save your souls.
