He deprives the trusted advisers ¹  of speech ²  and takes away the discernment ³  of elders.

For the Lord takes delight in his people; he exalts the oppressed by delivering them. ¹ 

At the top ¹  of the elevated places along the way, at the intersection ²  of the paths she takes her stand;

Give to everyone who asks you, ¹  and do not ask for your possessions ²  back ³  from the person who takes them away.

For what hope does the godless have when he is cut off, ¹  when God takes away his life? ² 

Such ¹  are the ways ²  of all who gain profit unjustly; ³  it ⁴  takes away the life ⁵  of those who obtain it! ⁶ 

Suppose a man marries a woman, has sexual relations with her, ¹  and then rejects ²  her,

If he takes another wife, ¹  he must not diminish the first one’s food, ²  her clothing, or her marital rights. ³ 

On the next day John ¹  saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God ²  who takes away the sin of the world!

How blessed will be the one who grabs your babies and smashes them on a rock! ¹

The Lord takes delight in his faithful followers, ¹  and in those who wait for his loyal love.

And no one assumes this honor ¹  on his own initiative, ²  but only when called to it by God, ³  as in fact Aaron was.

In the morning you must approach in tribal order. ¹  The tribe the Lord selects ²  must approach by clans. The clan the Lord selects must approach by families. ³  The family the Lord selects must approach man by man. ⁴ 

To the person who strikes you on the cheek, ¹  offer the other as well, ²  and from the person who takes away your coat, ³  do not withhold your tunic ⁴  either. ⁵ 

The Lord takes his position to judge; he stands up to pass sentence on his people. ¹ 

“‘Adulterous wife, who prefers strangers instead of her own husband!

But ¹  when a stronger man ²  attacks ³  and conquers him, he takes away the first man’s ⁴  armor on which the man relied ⁵  and divides up ⁶  his plunder. ⁷
