The Lord’s spirit spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.

Does not the ear test words, as ¹  the tongue ²  tastes food? ³ 

“If ¹  evil is sweet in his mouth and he hides it under his tongue, ² 

my ¹  lips will not speak wickedness, and my tongue will whisper ²  no deceit.

See now, I have opened ¹  my mouth; my tongue in my mouth has spoken. ² 

(40:25) ¹  “Can you pull in ²  Leviathan with a hook, and tie down ³  its tongue with a rope?

His mouth is full of curses and deceptive, harmful words; ¹  his tongue injures and destroys. ² 

May the Lord cut off ¹  all flattering lips, and the tongue that boasts! ² 

You do damage with words, ¹  and use your tongue to deceive. ² 

You love to use all the words that destroy, ¹  and the tongue that deceives.

I cried out to him for help ¹  and praised him with my tongue. ² 

May my tongue sing about your instructions, ¹  for all your commands are just.

haughty eyes, ¹  a lying tongue, ²  and hands that shed innocent blood, ³ 

by keeping ¹  you from the evil woman, ²  from the smooth tongue of ³  the loose woman. ⁴ 

One who acts wickedly ¹  pays attention to evil counsel; ²  a liar listens ³  to a malicious tongue. ⁴ 

The one who guards his mouth and his tongue ¹  keeps his life ²  from troubles. ³ 

Through patience ¹  a ruler can be persuaded, ²  and a soft tongue ³  can break a bone. ⁴ 

The north wind ¹  brings forth rain, and a gossiping tongue ²  brings forth ³  an angry look. ⁴ 

A lying tongue ¹  hates those crushed by it, and a flattering mouth works ruin. ² 

She opens her mouth ¹  with wisdom, and loving instruction ²  is on her tongue.
