The women who were playing the music sang, “Saul has struck down his thousands, but David his tens of thousands!”

They blessed Rebekah with these words: ¹  “Our sister, may you become the mother ²  of thousands of ten thousands! May your descendants possess the strongholds ³  of their enemies.”

Then the officers who were over the thousands of the army, the commanders over thousands and the commanders over hundreds, approached Moses

Isn’t this David, of whom they sang as they danced, ¹  ‘Saul has struck down his thousands, but David his tens of thousands’?”

but I show covenant faithfulness ¹  to the thousands ²  who choose ³  me and keep my commandments.

This made Saul very angry. The statement displeased him and he thought, ¹  “They have attributed to David tens of thousands, but to me they have attributed only thousands. What does he lack, except the kingdom?”

A river of fire was streaming forth and proceeding from his presence. Many thousands were ministering to him; Many tens of thousands stood ready to serve him. ¹  The court convened ²  and the books were opened.

When the army is taken away, the king of the south will become arrogant. ¹  He will be responsible for the death ²  of thousands and thousands of people, ³  but he will not continue to prevail.

And when it came to rest he would say, “Return, O Lord, to the many thousands of Israel!” ¹ 

David assembled the army that was with him. He appointed leaders of thousands and leaders of hundreds.

God has countless chariots; they number in the thousands. ¹  The Lord comes from Sinai in holy splendor. ² 

The law you have revealed is more important to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. ¹ 

Moses chose capable men from all Israel, and he made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

These were the ones chosen ¹  from the community, leaders ²  of their ancestral tribes. ³  They were the heads of the thousands ⁴  of Israel.

“But if they blow with one trumpet, then the leaders, the heads of the thousands of Israel, must come to you. ¹ 

So a thousand from every tribe, twelve thousand armed for battle in all, were provided out of the thousands of Israel.

But Moses was furious with the officers of the army, the commanders over thousands and commanders over hundreds, who had come from service in the war.

All the gold of the offering they offered up to the Lord from the commanders of thousands and the commanders of hundreds weighed 16,750 shekels. ¹ 

Our storehouses ¹  will be full, providing all kinds of food. ²  Our sheep will multiply by the thousands and fill ³  our pastures. ⁴ 

May the firstborn of his bull bring him honor, and may his horns be those of a wild ox; with them may he gore all peoples, all the far reaches of the earth. They are the ten thousands of Ephraim, ¹  and they are the thousands of Manasseh.
