I thought about the days of old, about ancient times. ¹ 

“If Esau attacks one camp,” ¹  he thought, ²  “then the other camp will be able to escape.” ³ 

When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute ¹  because she had covered her face.

David thought about what they said ¹  and was very afraid of King Achish of Gath.

Jeroboam then thought to himself: ¹  “Now the Davidic dynasty could regain the kingdom. ² 

my anxiety intensified. ¹  As I thought about it, I became impatient. ²  Finally I spoke these words: ³ 

Then I said, “I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One ¹  might become inactive. ² 

I thought, ¹  ‘You are gods; all of you are sons of the Most High.’ ² 

The waters closed over my head; I thought ¹  I was about to die. ² 

Then Jacob woke up ¹  and thought, ²  “Surely the Lord is in this place, but I did not realize it!”

So Moses thought, ¹  “I will turn aside to see ²  this amazing ³  sight. Why does the bush not burn up?” ⁴ 

I thought this was a good idea, ¹  so I sent ²  twelve men from among you, one from each tribe.

“Then I thought, ‘I will die in my own home, ¹  my days as numerous as the grains of sand. ² 

A song of ascents. ²  When the Lord restored the well-being of Zion, ³  we thought we were dreaming. ⁴ 

I thought ¹  I had been banished from your sight, ²  that I would never again ³  see your holy temple! ⁴ 

And when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more. But each one also received the standard wage.

When they saw him walking on the water ¹  they thought he was a ghost. They ²  cried out,

so ¹  he thought to himself, ²  ‘What should I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ ³ 

(Now Jesus had been talking about ¹  his death, but they ²  thought he had been talking about real sleep.) ³ 

He thought his own people ¹  would understand that God was delivering them ²  through him, ³  but they did not understand. ⁴
