They are calloused; ¹  they speak arrogantly. ² 

who speak lies, and make false promises. ¹ 

Will you speak wickedly ¹  on God’s behalf? ²  Will you speak deceitfully for him?

The godly speak wise words and promote justice. ¹ 

They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see,

They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see,

for their hearts contemplate violence, and their lips speak harm. ¹ 

For I, the Lord, will speak. Whatever word I speak will be accomplished. It will not be delayed any longer. Indeed in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and accomplish it, declares the sovereign Lord.’”

They said to Moses, “You speak ¹  to us and we will listen, but do not let God speak with us, lest we die.”

They speak sinful words. ¹  So let them be trapped by their own pride and by the curses and lies they speak!

Then Shechem’s father Hamor went to speak with Jacob about Dinah. ¹ 

“Speak to the Israelites and tell them, ‘I am the Lord your God!

Listen, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

He added, ¹  “I have something to say to you.” She replied, “Speak.”

Bathsheba replied, “That’s fine, ¹  I’ll speak to the king on your behalf.”

Will they not ¹  instruct you and ²  speak to you, and bring forth words ³  from their understanding? ⁴ 

Then ¹  would I speak and not fear him, but it is not so with me. ² 

But if only God would speak, ¹  if only he would open his lips against you, ² 

Then call, ¹  and I will answer, or I will speak, and you respond to me.

Bear with me ¹  and I ²  will speak, and after I have spoken ³  you may mock. ⁴
