He ¹  immediately took ²  soldiers and centurions ³  and ran down to the crowd. ⁴  When they saw ⁵  the commanding officer ⁶  and the soldiers, they stopped beating ⁷  Paul.

The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him sour wine, ¹ 

At daybreak ¹  there was great consternation ²  among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.

The ¹  number of soldiers on horseback was two hundred million; ²  I heard their number.

Pilate said to them, “Take ¹  a guard of soldiers. Go and make it as secure as you can.”

So ¹  they went with the soldiers ²  of the guard and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone.

But one of the soldiers pierced ¹  his side with a spear, and blood and water ²  flowed out immediately.

So the soldiers, in accordance with their orders, ¹  took ²  Paul and brought him to Antipatris ³  during the night.

Paul said to the centurion ¹  and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay with the ship, you ²  cannot be saved.”

Then the soldiers cut the ropes ¹  of the ship’s boat and let it drift away. ² 

Now the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners ¹  so that none of them would escape by swimming away. ² 

The ¹  king was furious! He sent his soldiers, and they put those murderers to death ²  and set their city ³  on fire.

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the governor’s residence ¹  and gathered the whole cohort ²  around him.

After ¹  they had assembled with the elders and formed a plan, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,

So ¹  the soldiers led him into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) ²  and called together the whole cohort. ³ 

The soldiers ¹  forced ²  a passerby to carry his cross, ³  Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country ⁴  (he was the father of Alexander and Rufus).

Even Herod with his soldiers treated him with contempt and mocked him. Then, ¹  dressing him in elegant clothes, ²  Herod ³  sent him back to Pilate.

So Judas obtained a squad of soldiers ¹  and some officers of the chief priests and Pharisees. ²  They came to the orchard ³  with lanterns ⁴  and torches and weapons.

Then the squad of soldiers ¹  with their commanding officer ²  and the officers of the Jewish leaders ³  arrested ⁴  Jesus and tied him up. ⁵ 

The soldiers ¹  braided ²  a crown of thorns ³  and put it on his head, and they clothed him in a purple robe. ⁴
