Look! Israel’s protector ¹  does not sleep or slumber!

In a dream, a night vision, when deep sleep falls on people as they sleep in their beds.

For they cannot sleep unless they cause harm; ¹  they are robbed of sleep ²  until they make someone stumble. ³ 

The sleep of the laborer is pleasant – whether he eats little or much – but the wealth of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

Now before the spies ¹  went to sleep, Rahab ²  went up ³  to the roof.

I will lie down and sleep peacefully, ¹  for you, Lord, make me safe and secure. ² 

Rouse yourself! Why do you sleep, O Lord? Wake up! ¹  Do not reject us forever!

They wander around looking for something to eat; they refuse to sleep until they are full. ¹ 

When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep ¹  in their dens.

May he not allow your foot to slip! May your protector ¹  not sleep! ² 

I will not allow my eyes to sleep, or my eyelids to slumber,

Permit no sleep to your eyes ¹  or slumber to your eyelids.

How long, you sluggard, will you lie there? When will you rise from your sleep? ¹ 

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax, ¹ 

Laziness brings on ¹  a deep sleep, ²  and the idle person ³  will go hungry. ⁴ 

“A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax,

I was consumed by scorching heat ¹  during the day and by piercing cold ²  at night, and I went without sleep. ³ 

In the troubling thoughts ¹  of the dreams ²  in the night when a deep sleep ³  falls on men,

But then the Lord awoke from his sleep; ¹  he was like a warrior in a drunken rage. ² 

When ¹  you lie down you will not be filled with fear; ²  when ³  you lie down your sleep will be pleasant. ⁴
