Do you listen in on God’s secret council? ¹  Do you limit ²  wisdom to yourself?

“Stolen waters ¹  are sweet, and food obtained in secret ²  is pleasant!”

A gift given ¹  in secret subdues ²  anger, and a bribe given secretly ³  subdues ⁴  strong wrath. ⁵ 

When you argue a case ¹  with your neighbor, do not reveal the secret of another person, ² 

For God will evaluate every deed, ¹  including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

Look, you are wiser than Daniel; ¹  no secret is hidden from you. ² 

The magicians did the same ¹  with their secret arts and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt too. ²

When ¹  the magicians attempted ²  to bring forth gnats by their secret arts, they could not. So there were gnats on people and on animals.

the spies spotted ¹  a man leaving the city. They said to him, “If you show us a secret entrance into the city, we will reward you.”

He showed them a secret entrance into the city, and they put the city to the sword. But they let the man and his extended family leave safely.

I will destroy anyone who slanders his neighbor in secret. I will not tolerate anyone who has a cocky demeanor and an arrogant attitude. ¹

But the magicians of Egypt did the same ¹  by their secret arts, and so ²  Pharaoh’s heart remained hard, ³  and he refused to listen to Moses and Aaron ⁴  – just as the Lord had predicted.

‘Cursed is the one ¹  who makes a carved or metal image – something abhorrent ²  to the Lord, the work of the craftsman ³  – and sets it up in a secret place.’ Then all the people will say, ‘Amen!’ ⁴ 

Secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those that are revealed belong to us and our descendants ¹  forever, so that we might obey all the words of this law.
