So ¹  he called them and spoke to them in parables: ²  “How can Satan cast out Satan?

For some have already wandered away to follow Satan. ¹ 

So if ¹  Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?

Then Satan answered the Lord, “Is it for nothing that Job fears God? ¹ 

So ¹  he said to them, “I saw ²  Satan fall ³  like lightning ⁴  from heaven.

Then ¹  Satan ²  entered Judas, the one called Iscariot, who was one of the twelve. ³ 

“Simon, ¹  Simon, pay attention! ²  Satan has demanded to have you all, ³  to sift you like wheat, ⁴ 

And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself ¹  as an angel of light.

Now ¹  when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison

The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?” ¹  And Satan answered the Lord, ²  “From roving about ³  on the earth, and from walking back and forth across it.” ⁴ 

So the Lord said to Satan, “All right then, ¹  everything he has is ²  in your power. ³  Only do not extend your hand against the man himself!” ⁴  So Satan went out ⁵  from the presence of the Lord. ⁶ 

And the Lord said to Satan, “Where do you come from?” Satan answered the Lord, ¹  “From roving about on the earth, and from walking back and forth across it.” ² 

The Lord ¹  said to Satan, “May the Lord rebuke you, Satan! May the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, ²  rebuke you! Isn’t this man like a burning stick snatched from the fire?”

So the Lord said to Satan, “All right, ¹  he is ²  in your power; ³  only preserve ⁴  his life.”

And if Satan rises against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand and his end has come.

The God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

so that we may not be exploited ¹  by Satan (for we are not ignorant of his schemes).

For we wanted to come to you (I, Paul, in fact tried again and again) ¹  but Satan thwarted us.

Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I handed over to Satan ¹  to be taught not to blaspheme.

Now the day came when ²  the sons of God ³  came to present themselves before ⁴  the Lord – and Satan ⁵  also arrived among them.
