So ¹  he sent and had John beheaded in the prison.

(For John had not yet been thrown into prison.) ¹ 

Remember those in prison as though you were in prison with them, ¹  and those ill-treated as though you too felt their torment. ² 

When ¹  did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

Herod added this to them all: He locked up John in prison.

In it ¹  he went and preached to the spirits in prison, ² 

Now ¹  when the thousand years are finished, Satan will be released from his prison

Now when John ¹  heard in prison about the deeds Christ ²  had done, he sent his disciples to ask a question: ³ 

But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

But Peter ¹  said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death!” ² 

(This ¹  was a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection ²  started in the city, and for murder.) ³ 

But during the night an angel of the Lord ¹  opened ²  the doors of the prison, ³  led them out, ⁴  and said,

But the officers ¹  who came for them ²  did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported, ³ 

So Peter was kept in prison, but those in the church were earnestly ¹  praying to God for him. ² 

After they had beaten them severely, ¹  they threw them into prison and commanded ²  the jailer to guard them securely.

The ¹  whole imperial guard ²  and everyone else knows ³  that I am in prison ⁴  for the sake of Christ,

For Herod had arrested John, bound him, ¹  and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

And in anger his lord turned him over to the prison guards to torture him ¹  until he repaid all he owed.

I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’

For Herod himself had sent men, arrested John, and bound him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because Herod ¹  had married her.
