Then ¹  the chief priests began to accuse him repeatedly.

So the chief priests planned to kill Lazarus too, ¹ 

Then one of the twelve, the one named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests

But when he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he did not respond.

(For he knew that the chief priests had handed him over because of envy.) ¹ 

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release ¹  Barabbas instead.

Then ¹  one of them ²  struck the high priest’s slave, ³  cutting off his right ear.

The chief priests and the experts in the law ¹  were there, vehemently accusing him. ² 

Then ¹  Pilate called together the chief priests, the ²  rulers, and the people,

And the others ¹  who became priests were numerous, because death prevented them ²  from continuing in office, ³ 

When ¹  the chief priests and the Pharisees ²  heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.

But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus killed.

In ¹  the same way even the chief priests – together with the experts in the law ²  and elders ³  – were mocking him: ⁴ 

The ¹  next day (which is after the day of preparation) the chief priests and the Pharisees ²  assembled before Pilate

Then ¹  Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus into their hands. ² 

One of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, ¹  cutting off his ear.

Now ¹  while Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the high priest’s slave girls ²  came by.

Then ¹  Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no basis for an accusation ²  against this man.”

and how our chief priests and rulers handed him over ¹  to be condemned to death, and crucified ²  him.

and here he has authority from the chief priests to imprison ¹  all who call on your name!” ²
