Thus the poor have hope, and iniquity ¹  shuts its mouth. ² 

Pay attention, all you people, ¹  both rich and poor!

Do not exploit ¹  a poor person because he is poor and do not crush the needy in court, ² 

However, a poor but wise man lived in the city, ¹  and he could have delivered ²  the city by his wisdom, but no one listened ³  to that poor man.

and you must not show partiality ¹  to a poor man in his lawsuit.

“You must not turn away justice for your poor people in their lawsuits.

His sons must recompense ¹  the poor; his own hands ²  must return his wealth.

They turn the needy from the pathway, and the poor of the land hide themselves together. ¹ 

Have I not wept for the unfortunate? ¹  Was not my soul grieved for the poor?

He does not allow the wicked to live, ¹  but he gives justice to the poor.

Defend the cause of the poor and the fatherless! ¹  Vindicate the oppressed and suffering!

Rescue the poor and needy! Deliver them from the power ¹  of the wicked!

He raises the poor from the dirt, and lifts up the needy from the garbage pile, ¹ 

I know ¹  that the Lord defends the cause of the oppressed and vindicates the poor. ² 

The one who is lazy ¹  becomes poor, ²  but the one who works diligently ³  becomes wealthy. ⁴ 

A poor person makes supplications, ¹  but a rich man answers harshly. ² 

Wealth adds many friends, but a poor person is separated ¹  from his friend. ² 

The rich and the poor meet together; ¹  the Lord is the creator of them both. ² 

The rich rule over ¹  the poor, and the borrower is servant ²  to the lender.

A generous person ¹  will be blessed, ²  for he gives some of his food ³  to the poor.
