Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother who was also a mother to me. ¹ 

But ¹  his mother replied, ²  “No! He must be named ³  John.” ⁴ 

They will be divided, ¹  father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

For God said, ¹  ‘Honor your father and mother’ ²  and ‘Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’ ³ 

Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,

So ¹  she went out and said to her mother, “What should I ask for?” Her mother ²  said, “The head of John the baptizer.” ³ 

For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ ¹  and, ‘Whoever insults his father or mother must be put to death.’ ² 

Now standing beside Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. ¹ 

So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, ¹  look, here is your son!”

And pointing ¹  toward his disciples he said, “Here ²  are my mother and my brothers!

honor your father and mother, ¹  and love your neighbor as yourself.” ² 

He answered them and said, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” ¹ 

For whoever does the will of God is ¹  my brother and sister and mother.”

then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother.

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, ¹ 

Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where the body ¹  was placed.

And who am I ¹  that the mother of my Lord should come and visit me?

So ¹  the child’s ²  father ³  and mother were amazed ⁴  at what was said about him.

So ¹  he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
