They mock ¹  and say evil things; ²  they proudly threaten violence. ³ 

Bear with me ¹  and I ²  will speak, and after I have spoken ³  you may mock. ⁴ 

The righteous see their destruction ¹  and rejoice; the innocent mock them scornfully, ²  saying,

All who see me taunt ¹  me; they mock me ²  and shake their heads. ³ 

Those who sit at the city gate gossip about me; drunkards mock me in their songs. ¹ 

Fools mock ¹  at reparation, ²  but among the upright there is favor. ³ 

Now ¹  the men who were holding Jesus ²  under guard began to mock him and beat him.

Will your idle talk ¹  reduce people to silence, ²  and will no one rebuke ³  you when you mock? ⁴ 

When the godly see this, they will be filled with awe, and will mock the evildoer, saying: ¹ 

All day long my enemies taunt me; those who mock me use my name in their curses. ¹ 

so ¹  I myself will laugh ²  when disaster strikes you, ³  I will mock when what you dread ⁴  comes,

Therefore, listen to the Lord’s word, you who mock, you rulers of these people who reside in Jerusalem! ¹ 

Those both near and far from you will mock you, you with your bad reputation, ¹  full of turmoil.

They mock kings and laugh at rulers. They laugh at every fortified city; they build siege ramps ¹  and capture them.

“But now they mock me, those who are younger ¹  than I, whose fathers I disdained too much ²  to put with my sheep dogs. ³ 

for there our captors ask us to compose songs; ¹  those who mock us demand that we be happy, saying: ²  “Sing for us a song about Zion!” ³ 

They will mock him, spit on him, flog ¹  him severely, and kill him. Yet ²  after three days, ³  he will rise again.”

So now, do not mock, or your chains will become heavier! For I have heard a message about decreed destruction, from the sovereign master, the Lord who commands armies, against the entire land. ¹ 

ס (Samek) All who passed by on the road clapped their hands to mock you. ¹  They sneered and shook their heads at Daughter Jerusalem. “Ha! Is this the city they called ²  ‘The perfection of beauty, ³  the source of joy of the whole earth!’?” ⁴ 

In that day people will sing this taunt song to you – they will mock you with this lament: ¹  ‘We are completely destroyed; they sell off ²  the property of my people. How they remove it from me! ³  They assign our fields to the conqueror.’ ⁴
